Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of Sijil Law. By creating an account you accept them on behalf of your office. (Initial draft, to be reviewed by legal counsel before final adoption.)
1. The service
Sijil Law is a cloud service for running a law office (clients, matters, hearings, fees, documents and a client portal). It is provided as is, keeps evolving, and features may change with prior notice.
2. Account and office
An office opens an account under its manager's responsibility, who is responsible for the team's accounts, permissions and password secrecy. Everything the office enters remains the office's property.
3. Trial, subscription and payment
The service starts with a free trial and no card. Afterwards the office subscribes to a monthly or yearly plan at the published prices (excluding VAT unless stated). The subscription activates once payment is confirmed; when a period ends without renewal, the office stays readable and exportable during a grace period, then stops until renewed.
4. The office's data and its clients'
Each office's data is isolated from others and encrypted at rest. We access it only with the office's explicit permission for support, for a limited time recorded in the audit log. The office can export all its data and files at any time; data is deleted for good after the retention period that follows cancellation.
5. Acceptable use
The service may not be used unlawfully, to reach another office's data, or to send unsolicited messages. Messages an office sends its clients leave under the office's own connection and name, and the office is responsible for their content.
6. Limitation of liability
The service is an administrative tool and does not replace legal advice or the office's own duty to meet hearing dates and limitation periods; reminders are an aid. We are not liable for indirect losses, and our liability is capped at what was paid for the service in the preceding twelve months.
7. The office's responsibility for using the system, contracts and templates
Every default template, contract, clause and text in the service (fee, employment, lease, sale and power-of-attorney contracts, warnings, offers and the like) is an indicative draft only: it is not legal advice and not an approved text for any country. Each office must review and edit it for the law of its country and the facts of each case before using it. Full legal responsibility for using the service, and for any contract, document, alert, deadline or statement created, sent or relied on through it, rests on the office alone; Sijil Law and its operators accept no responsibility for it or for any loss or dispute arising from it. The office is also responsible for the accuracy of its data and dates and for the compliance of its contracts with the laws in force.
8. Termination
The office may cancel at any time and keeps the right to export its data during the retention period. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms after notice.
9. The AI assistant
The assistant turns what a user says or writes into proposals to record (a note, a task, time worked, an expense, a hearing result) that are recorded only after the user confirms them on the review screen. The words, and a short list of candidate names and numbers to match them against, are sent to the AI provider the office connects with its own key or the one the platform operates; the recording is not kept after it is turned into text. The office alone is responsible for reviewing what the assistant proposes before confirming it, and for its own key and provider; Sijil Law is not liable for any misunderstanding by the assistant.
10. Changes and governing law
These terms and the privacy policy may be updated with notice inside the service, and every user is asked to accept the new version before going on. They are governed by the laws in force in the office's country.
